OCM recently hosted the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Quarterly Members meeting in Parramatta on the 8th May. As hosts, OCM invited Privacy Commissioner Samantha Gavel to address the meeting in light of recent amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 introducing a mandatory notification procedure for data breaches; and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The NSW audit office recently published a report based on survey findings determining that 63% of participating local councils (83) have no fraud control plans or procedures to address specific fraud risks with only 15 councils conducting any form of risk assessment within the past two years.
